Dr Phil Hamann is a Consultant Rheumatologist in Bath and Bristol. He is passionate about patient-centred holistic care. Phil will take the time you need to listen, understand your symptoms, medical history and your life in detail, and make a diagnosis. He will order any tests you need, and discuss and build your treatment plan with you.

Dr Phil Hamann sees people with a wide range of conditions including Rheumatoid Arthritis, Fibromyalgia, Ankylosing Spondylitis, Psoriatic Arthritis, Osteoarthritis and less common conditions including Lupus and other connective tissue diseases. Phil also sees patients who haven't yet had a diagnosis but have unmanaged symptoms including joint and muscle pain, and fatigue.
Whether you don't yet have a diagnosis, are looking for a second opinion, or simply interested to understand more about your condition, we can order the tests you need. At Sulis we have access to state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment including blood laboratory work, x-rays and scans. Phil will interpret the results for you, and explain what they mean for your health and your future.
Phil is actively involved in rheumatology research and innovation. Working with a local small business, Phil has developed innovative apps to allow patients to keep their doctors informed about their arthritis. His PhD analysed large databases to understand why some people have better responses to medications than others. Phil regularly attends and gives talks at national and international conferences.

Dr Hamann (BMBS, BMedSci, MRCP, Ph.D.) is a Consultant Rheumatologist at North Bristol NHS Trust and a Clinical Lecturer in Rheumatology at the University of Bristol. He sees his private patients at Sulis Hospital Bath. Dr Hamann is passionate about patient-centred holistic care and devotes time and care to listen, understand and treat all rheumatological conditions.
